temporary lurker question

Hi all, from the Jan. '12 boards :)

My sister is having a baby in June and we were both wondering what you dressed your newborns in during the summer.  She's having a gender reveal party this weekend and I want to get her some things.  Neither of us were sure what you dressed a summer baby in to keep warm but not too hot! Both of us had babies in the winter, which was easy peasy for buying stuff...fleece long sleeve everything :)  TIA!

  • This past summer was soooo hot so my LO was usually just in a onesie. There are also these onesieshorts thingies that he wore, too. Those were nice since they were sort of a complete outfit. Also, a sun hat. Those silly baby sunglasses. Cotton sleep sacks or swaddle sacks. HTH!

During the day, DS only wore short sleeve onesies. At night, he had the long sleeve onesie with the cuffins and swaddled with cotton blanket.
  • My baby wore a onesie with a swadding blanket at all times. PP mentioned the "creeper" type outfits that are awesome. My 2 favorite outfits were both tank tops onsies that snapped into shorts.

He didnt wear a hat outside going home. He wore his sun hat 1x. At first I didnt love the t-shirts that come with summer combos, but later, I thought he looked so cute in a t-shirt and his diaper.

  • She wore onsies.  I got some Underarmor ones that were breathable for really hot days that were unberable this summer.  I like to take her on walks so she was in these quite a bit.  At night a white onsie shortsleved one and swaddled.
  • DD wore short sleeve onesies or little short sleeve/tank top style dresses or rompers. At night we put her in a short sleeve onesie and swaddled her in one of the Aiden & Anais blankets. I liked those blankets for blocking the sun when we had her out in the stroller too because they felt pretty light weight

    Yep.

K was born in late May and it was still kind of cool here so she was in cotton sleep-n-plays for the first few weeks then onesies the rest of the summer.  Cotton pants when needed.

  • I have a January baby and a June baby and my experience was actually quite opposite. My January baby lived in onesies and my June baby lived in sleepers. We have the heat on in the winter and the A/C in the summer. In the summer there is A/C blasting everywhere you go (car, mall, etc) so we found that a sleeper and blanket worked best for us. We only put DD2 in onesies if we knew we'd be outside for more than 30 mins.

  • I had a lot of cotton sleepers since we had A/C. I didn't have her outside much because she would get over heated and cranky. When I did have her outside she was just in a onesie or some cute summer outfit and bloomers. I always stuck to the shade though.

  • Yep, onesies and rompers. Night would be either a onesie or just a diaper and swaddled in a light blanket
