Friend just named little girl Bay

What do you think? I think it's kind of strange, but definitely not the worst I've heard. Curious as to what others think. Anyone think it's cute?

    It's an unusual name, but not totally unique. Think Bay Buchanan.

    I think it sounds more like a nickname for Bailey than a full name.  That might be because I have a student with that name/nickname though.  I don't love it, but there are worse fates in life.

    I love it! It's unique and strong. I knew a girl named Bay and she was also unique and strong.

    I don't think so. I'll have to ask her next time I see her. I think it's just her style. She has other one syllable named kids, more common names though.

     The more I think about it, the cuter is sounds to me. I casually tossed it at DH and he made a face. Definitely think it's one of those names that either does it for you or doesn't.

    I love it! From switched at birth
    Married on 3.20.2004. It took 30 month, 2 failed adoptions and IVF for our first miracle. We have had 9 foster kids since he was born and started the domestic adoption process when he was 10 month old, we had 4 failed matches in that time. After our daughter was born we brought her home and spent 2 weeks fearing we might lose her because of complications that came up. But Praise God all went through and she is ours forever!     I'm all for traditional names and while this isn't traditional it's not bad at all. It's kinda cute.

    I don't get this. When I taught in the city, my teenager students would use the term Bay as short for Babe/Baby when referencing a b/f or g/f... or crush/fling/whatever...

    It's all I hear.

    That or thinking of an actual bay. Not a name to me.

    Me too. I don't hate it though; maybe because it grew on me while watching the show.

    I know a Bay, she's on her 40's. It suits her. It doesn't seem weird to me since I know someone who is already named it, but I sure don't hear it often.

    LOL! His son's name is actually Baelfire, but they call him Bae/Bay as a nn. =)
