Travelling alone with a toddler SUCKS!
So our trip back to Denmark was today/yesterday.
We took a ferry from Oslo to Copenhagen - which take aprox 16-17 hours (most during the night).. This means two meals - buffet-style alone!
Yesterday was dreadful because of our waiter (on top of having to pick out food whilst holding the hand and attention of a two-year-old.. ) did not offer a toddler seat - so J had to sit on a big chair and a bazillion times ran out of it. He did not eat that much, and was more interested in watching the other guests/run, leaving me no time to eat much either, so that meant that I paid $40-50 for a dinner we were half full on... Then it actually went OK after dinner - we took a shower and calmed down for the night.
Breakfast had the same issue - except I just walked past the waiters and grabbed a child seat and walked away. I tried to sit as close to the buffet as possible, leaving me time to get up for small items after we had seated with our first plates - without having to take J up. This worked out great - until a FAT guy (not meant as a deep insult - but more as a "get out of the way, you are blocking the view"-way) sat himself between our table and the buffet - so J started CRYING..
I hope that travelling gets easier by time - because we will be doing this a lot!
Tips are welcome ![]()
Re: Travelling alone with a toddler
Ugh. That's rough. I can't imagine 16-17 hours alone travelling with a toddler...
I gave up and switched seats with my DH when my LO was a squirmy worm on a 2-3 hour flight....so way to go.
And while you'd hardly eaten, no less! I know I'm crabbier when I'm hungry!
