I've read reviews for everything from diaper genies to diaper champs to the diaper dekor to the arm and hammer one. No one seems very happy with any of them. I'm not expecting miracles, just looking for a good, basic diaper pail. If possible, I'd like to not have to buy special refill bags BUT would be willing to if the pail is a good one and the refills aren't crazy expensive.
Thanks!
Re: Diaper Pail?
DD is aout to turn 6 months and I just bought the arm and hammer one.
TO be honest, now that she is starting solids I don't think ANYTHING will keep that poo stench in!
But for regular pee diapers it is doing fine.
I was using a simple step can, knowing it wasn't a long term solution.
Best thing is to just walk the poop diapers to the outside trash as soon as LO is changed. This isn't so bad once they stop pooping 12 times per day,
I loved my arm & hammer until DS was 10 or 11 months old. He broke the latch on it trying to open it and it stinks now that it won't close. I think I will find a new pail that takes regular bags and just add the baking soda and an air freshener. I'd think it would work just as well.
In doing research, I read that plastic will absorb odors. I decided to go ahead and buy and try another one, even though my son seems to be closer to ready to potty train.
I now have the Dekor. I like how I don't have to refill the bags every time. And, they smell nice. Also, the pail is supposed to be made of a special type of plastic that won't absorb the odors (as much).
we have the ubbi, love it, it keeps the smells in, uses regular bags, and looks as stylish as a pail can look (which is nice since we have it in our hallway).
it wasnt necessary before they started solids, but since then its a must have for us if you ever change diapers in a place where its not easy to take them out each time you have a poopy one. we empty it every few days and it keeps the smells in well.
This exactly!
yep!!
Love our Ubbi diaper pail!
Uses any bag you want. Sealed with rubber gaskets all around. We use cloth diapers, so we needed something to hold the smell for days at a time. This was the only one that worked. It also has a lock on it, so kids or pets can't get it (we've never had to use the lock).
I have an extra pail. We did use it, but it's in great condition. I'd be happy to send it to you! Here's my link to it on craigslist: https://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/bab/3534682251.html
