I'm back on the cycle-go-round. Started stims yesterday morning (so odd to take only 150IU instead of the 600 I'm used to). Nervous to be back on an Antagonist protocol since my first IVF was this protocol and ended up being cancelled due to my ovaries' abysmal response -- trying to relax, trust my new RE, and remember that this low-dose stim version is a whole different game than last time. My AFC was 6 (not my best, but not my worst); hoping their rock star alter-egos wake up soon!

Oh my gosh, Joules! Fingers crossed for you big time!
I'm intruiged by your RE putting you on lower dose stims after being on such high levels in the past. Obviously they know what they are doing, but being such a craptastic poor responder myself, I'm curious what the reasoning is behind it? Please share if you know!

I've heard similar things to Mrs. McIrish about egg quality on lower stims/long protocol. It seems to have worked out that way for me, anyway.

I am an ok responder given my age but my new RE said the same thing to me he didn't want a ton of eggs, he wanted higher quality and with that response stimmed me at lower doses than any if my other previous 3 IVF cycles.

Yup, like McIrish said...this RE at my new clinic is very much in favor of low stim cycles for poor responders like myself (especially those of us who are "advanced age"). I've had very few eggs in prior cycles, but the quality of each of them has been extremely suspect (awful fert rate, etc) -- and my missed miscarriage (chromosomal issue) has supported that. DOR is already believed to = higher instances of chromosomally abnormal eggs -- RE feels that pumping them up with very high levels of FSH leads to even more chromosomal abnormalities. He's got a bunch of published research to support his beliefs (but my husband also felt that he was a bit "car salesman-ish" with his claims of getting underdog women pg). We'll see -- it didn't work for me the other way, so we're willing to give this a shot!

Phone consult with CCRM on 12/12/12 - ODWU 1/4/13 - both tubes clear(!) - AFC 24, AMH 3.2, FSH 9.6, LH 5.4, E2 25. DH has high frag rate but improved!
IVF #4 March 2013 CCRM. EP protocol w/ Menopur, Gonal-F & Dexamethasone. ER 3/29 & IMSI, PICSI. 43R 13M 10F 6blasts bio'd. CCS testing reveals 3 normals!!!
FET 5/31/13 of 1 4AA blast - thawed and expanded. 4dp5dt BFP.
Beta 9dp5dt = 181, 11dp5dt = 427. 1st u/s showed a healthy heartbeat! EDD 2/16/14
