What I need at Check-in

I just got my phone call about checking-in for my repeat csection tomorrow morning and they mentioned to only bring the "essentials" for the beginning part... DH can go and get our bag after we are in recovery.

What types of things would I need during that time?

Would a little Coach wristlet with my ID and insurance card and phone and camera be enough?

I was planning on not bringing my purse at all to the hospital... just having my wallet in my weekend bag.

Any other things I might be missing?

Re: What I need at Check-in

  • I don't know what they mean about essentials. DH left my bag in the car until I got a regular room and the hospital had a record of our insurance. I don't remember if I had my ID with me or not, but my doctor delivered me (and now is delivering my children), so I guess if I forgot it the ID, he vouched that I am who I say I am lol!

Good luck tomorrow! I'm sure you can't wait to meet your new little one :)

  • I think a wristlet with ID, insurance info, phone and camera sounds about right.  I also liked having some facial wipes and mouthwash to "freshen up" after my first, but then I had been laboring for 12 hours before my first CS....you might be feeling a lot fresher when you get out :-)

    Good luck!

  • I think they mostly don't want you lugging everything beforehand. So car seat, baby stuff, etc. can be left in the car. With my RCS I got hooked up and then sat in bed for well over an hour...so a book, magazine, kindle might be good. Maybe also socks or a pillow? Just limit yourself to one bag at this point.

  • I brought a reusable shopping bag to put my clothes in when they made get into a gown. I also used it to carry my camera, the book that we wanted the nurse to stamp his footprint in and some chapstick. I think that was it!
