I'm a teacher, and two of my fellow teachers here at school were also pregnant this year. (One was due in December, the other in February) Well, the both had their babies VERY early -- the one who was due at the end of December had hers at the beginning of November, and the one who was due at the beginning of February just had hers last night! I am worried that I, too, will have my baby much earlier than anticipated.
I am worried because I am due June 8th and we are out of school as of May 24th, which means I have two weeks to my due date from the time school lets out for the summer. I do not have maternity leave (we are a small school, and I just started here this year) and am concerned that I won't be here for the last week or so of the year.
I don't know if I am wanting advice or just positive thoughts and words of reassurance, but I am starting to worry. Many of my teacher friends had their babies early -- is it the stress of the job or something? I don't know... thanks for listening to me ramble!
Re: So, I wasn't concerned before...
It's most likely just coincidence that they had their babies early. Watch, You'll probably end of being super late =D
Try not to worry about it because that will add extra stress that you don't need. Whatever happens (if your baby comes in 1 month) the dr's and hospitals are pretty much equipped the handle ANYTHING. So you and your baby will be in great hands.
With DD my OB told me that she didn't expect me to go past 37 weeks because I am a nurse on a very busy floor and nurses tend to go early. I ended up being induced a little over 40 weeks. You can never predict when you will go into labor.
Do you work for a private school? Public schools would have to offer at least FLMA as a state employee, so you can be off, just without pay.
