Baby Showers

need cutesy rsvp saying

Hey everyone, my sister is looking into doing my shower invites and so has been researching different ideas.  Instead of having an rsvp be to an email or phone number, she wants to include an rsvp card with postage like you do at a wedding.  I know this may be a little out of the norm, but I liked the idea!  Anyways we have been trying to think of some cute/whimsical/witty saying for the rsvp card that is baby-related.  Some way of 'i will attend' or 'I will not attend' that is much more amusing.  Anyone have any ideas???  I can't find ANYTHING online.  TIA!

Re: need cutesy rsvp saying

  • While I know you like the idea, I would try and save the money on the extra postage and cards. It's hard enough to get guests to RSVP for a shower if you just give them a phone number or email address. I think that if you actually have the guests fill out the cards and mail them, you may end up getting less responses. Not to mention, some guests wait until the last minute to RSVP. I would use the extra money for something else for the shower.

  • Agree with PP. It is a shower, not a wedding. I would find it very weird for someone to have rsvp cards with a shower invitation. I am also not a fan of cutesy. For an event that you send invites to 3-4 weeks in advance, direct is best. Aren't babies and small clothes and little animals cutesy enough?

  • Ditto the PP.  It's hard enough to get people to RSVP with a quick email, I think you'll get far less response with a card to mail back.

    This. If I got something like that in an invite I'd either forget about it or lose it on accident. Much prefer an email and/or phone number to RSVP to.

  • I can't think of anything cutesy, but I don't think it's a completely horrible idea, if it's in your hostess' budget.  Personally, I hate calling people, especially if I don't personally know the hostess and would much prefer to just throw something pre-stamped and addressed into the mail.   People are horrible about RSVP'ing, so maybe this would encourage people who feel like I do - but I would still give the option of RSVP'ing by phone.  I would use postcards (cheaper postage and no envelopes).  Really though, who cares if the saying is cutesy, just put a cute picture on it.

    I agree with this and also the pp that said invites should go out 3-4 weeks before the shower.  That would not leave much time for people to mail them back.

    Honestly, it is cute, but... how far out are you sending the invitations? Most invites only go out 3-4 weeks in advance. People will need to literally send their response within days of receiving the invite for you to get it back in time. Plus, this is a baby shower. NOT a wedding. Why spend extra money on the inserts and stamps? I think the reason you're not finding anything cutesy to put is because it's just not the best idea, logistically.

     Ditto on this.

  • So it is a little over the top, but I got a very expensive invitation to an even more expensive shower. Think of opening the invitation and a butterfly is released. That didn't really happen, but its along those lines.

    Anyway, the invitation had a stork on it and the shower was being held at someone's estate home not a venue... So I'm not sure if the replies would make sense for your shower or not... But it said;

    I'll be coming to your nest for the much anticipated event.

    I'll be headed south for the winter.

    I thought it was kinda clever, and a little cheesy. Maybe it could be modified for you... Like "I'll still be down south for the winter" or something. Not sure.

    Sorry, not much help I guess.

  • Here is something cute that I found, what is your shower theme? But I agree with PP's. I would just KISS.

  • I like the idea.  How about Count me in! and I wish I could for the responses.
