1st Trimester

Anyone have morning sickness start after week 6?

I made it through week 6 with lots of symptoms including nausea/stomach upset, but not full on morning sickness/vomiting. Has anyone had morning sickness start in the 7th week or later? I am trying to decide if I would enjoy an out of town get away with my hubby or if I might end up just seeing the hotel bathroom. Thank you for your advice!

Re: Anyone have morning sickness start after week 6?

  • Mine started around week 6. Still going strong week 9.

  • There's no way to know, everyone is different.  Many women seem to experience symptoms that come and go, or start off with not much and it gets progressively worse.  I haven't really had any m/s or symptoms at all really, other than sore nipples and bloat.  But just the last couple of mornings I've started to feel increasingly nauseous - and I'm at 7w5d today.

  • Go on the trip.  9 months is a long time to avoid things based on "what ifs."  If it's not "what if I get ms" it'll be something else so base on the fact that you're feeling pretty good now and keep your fingers crossed.

  • Everyone is different, but for the last 3 days I've experienced "evening sickness" around dinner time every night, and today, "afternoon sickness"...so far today just nausea but the other days full on grossness in the bathroom.  I'm about a day away from entering week 7, so good luck.  If you don't get the full on pukies and you are lucky enough to just get the nausea, try doing things to distract yourself from it, I've found that is helping a little bit.  From conversations, to a book, a television show, or errands, whatever works. ( I avoid conversations about food, though.)  Best of luck.
  •  Mine started week 6 and I'm still feeling really crappily week 9... however, perhaps you can go on the trip after your first trimester is over, hopefully then symptoms will subside. It just depends how much you are able to deal with the nausea and be gallivanting at the same time. Perhaps it will take your mind off of your sickness.

  • My sister's started in the 2nd tri. I wouldn't sit and worry about it too much. You can't put your life on hold for it. I would go on your trip and have fun!

  • Yesterday was the first day I felt sick. Everything made me want to puke, I never did but I just felt like it all day.

You'll never know. I has m/s from week 6ish through 15 and then felt awesome until last week and here I am pulling over to vomit on the side of the road at week 20. Good luck!

  • I have had rolling nausea up until 5 months with my first two, and now this one.  Never vomited, but have to eat to keep the nausea at bay. Just make sure to bring lots of snacks! Good luck, and have a great time! :)
  • I agree that everyone is different.

M/S has started with both pregnancies around week 6-7, but I haven't vomited for either one. It's just rolling nausea, as you say. I'm taking B6 this time around, and that is helping the nausea.

  • Morning sickness sometimes is just nausea without the throwing up. With DD, I was sick all the time, but only threw up a handful of times.

  • Yes! Pretty much right on cue at 6 weeks I started feeling nauseous and I still do now at 10 weeks on and off. Not enjoyable but totally worth it :)

  • I'm sitting at about week 5 - I ovulated a week later than 'most' so it puts me a week behind. I've only dealt with nausea here and there so far and it's been pretty short lived. It's been over weird things though....like the smell of my old cookie sheets when washing them....and the sight of a spider that normally just makes me nervous but this time it gave me that sick feeling in my stomache...I'm taking a B6 complex vitamin so I"m HOPING that it'll keep the nausea and vomiting at bay or that I just keep going as I have been because this is manageable. I'm phobic of vomiting so if my body knows what's good for it, it'll keep it out of here!
