Question for Moms of 2+/moms to be

I just had my 2nd ob appointment- I am 12 weeks today.

The doctor said since everything looked great and because I did not have any complications with my first pregnancy that he did not need to see me in four weeks, but scheduled me for 7.

Is this normal. I asked him and he said it was. Just wanted to see if anyone else did this as well. It kind of makes me nervous becuase I just like to know that everything is fine.

I've never heard of that before, but I guess that doesn't mean it's uncommon. My first appt both times was around 6 weeks, and they started to see me every 4 weeks after that. That means he won't want to see you until around the anatomy scan time? I don't think I would like that either.

Yes, he said I could schedule the anatomy scan the same day. I mean, I trust him, he is the doctor.. it just makes me nervous.

There are a lot of changes in the practice I go to- all of the female doctors left a few weeks ago to go with another hospital (there were 5 of them) and they just got new doctors to join, so a part of me feels as though they are short staffed and trying to recover. But, I would hope they wouldn't risk safety for that issue. I don't know...

In 5 pregnancies I've never gone more than 4 weeks between visits. I don't think it sounds wise. I think something's up.

This is my second pregnancy and I haven't gone more than 4 weeks between visits either. I went at 5, 8, 12, 16 and the last one was the anatomy scan at 19 weeks. If you don't feel comfortable bring it up to them and try to re-schedule it.

I haven't had any complications with either pregnancy and I was still seen every 4 weeks.

However, my DHs cousins wife is a FTM and she is being seen every 6 weeks, so I have heard of it before. They have military healthcare though...not sure if that makes a difference.

I may call back and ask to be seen. He said it was ultimately up to me. I was just going by what he said in the appointment. Thanks for the feedback, I never heard of waiting so long before appointments either, just wanted to see if anyone else has/had.

I don't think it's my insurance because it is "normal" insurance.

I would be uncomfortable waiting that long. Those early appointments that were 4 weeks apart felt like an eternity as is!

I don't really know the answer to this. I had a different dr the second time, had I had the same dr, since he knew how my previous pregnancy went , Maybe it would have gone that way. Since it was a new dr and they didnt have any of my previous files, I was treated like it was my first pregnancy.
