What to eat night before induction?

We have our induction tomorrow morning at 530am. My doctor gave us no directions on what to eat or not to eat the night before. I assume there aren't really any rules since we aren't going in for a c-section.

What would be the best thing to eat tonight? I assume something with carbs and protein to stay with me would be a good idea.

Also, should I eat tomorrow morning before we go in? I assume so because I doubt they will let me eat once we get there.

  • You should call and check. They may have a cutoff time, just in case you end up needing an unplanned c section.

  • If you are going in for an induction, I would eat what you feel like eating. Maybe avoid things that are fatty or greasy. I would eat something in the AM, but again, maybe not anything real heavy.
  • The hospital should call you tonight with instructions but I had an induction (that ended up leading to a c-section anyways) but I was not allowed to eat anything after midnight before the induction. My DH and I had "breakfast" for dinner (pancakes and sausage) the night before.

Exactly this.  For your last meal I would eat something that fills you up without being greasy or wearing you down.  When my water broke DH and I went to Jimmy Jonh's for lunch on our way to the hospital because I know that usually fills me up without dragging down my energy.

Just called to check. They said eat whatever I like tomorrow and to have a semi light breakfast tomorrow. Sweet!

  • Eat anything and everything that sounds good! I didn't really get a chance to have a last meal because I got called in for an emergency induction. But once they start the pitocin you are not allowed food. for me that was around 17 hours with just being able to have water. I was so hangry!! I wish I ate more than the slice of pizza I had on the way there beforehand.

  • I was super nauseous during labor. If I were you I'd probably eat stuff that isn't too acidic or wouldn't be incredibly awful coming up.

  • Agreed about nothing too gassy. But something filling for sure! Induction can take a lonnng time. I couldn't eat for 32 hours.
