I was just curious if once you have a baby if the rest of your pregnancies have a tendency to be somewhat similar.
For my first my water broke a week early and labor was smooth. We did have a scary moment during delivery...but over all it was a positive experience. Now I'm a little anxious thinking that I'll need to be induced at 40+ and my labor and delivery could be awful.
Re: Third time moms
With DS1 I went from 0 progress to my water breaking. The contractions were inconsistent and I was in labor for about 10.5 hours, pushing for 20 minutes.
With DS2 I was 2cm at my last appointment and contractions started hard and fast at about 3 minutes apart. I was in labor for 4.5 hours, the doctor broke my water, and I pushed for 5 minutes.
The only thing that was similar, was that I went into labor around midnight exactly 3 days after my due date with both. Pretty strange. I am curious to see if that part happens again.

With DD I went from 1-10 in 2 hours, then pushed for 1.5 hours. She was stuck becuase she was face up. They mentioned emergency c-section if I couldnt get her out by the 2 hour push mark because of her heartrate. Needless to say, I worked extra hard and got her out 10 minutes later lol Her birth was very painful. From the first painful contraction to the last. I had contractions right on top of each other, no break in between and my epidural didnt work
WIth my second baby (DS) everything was perfect! I had been contracting at home and I didnt even know it. Totally painless. I had my membranes stripped at 8am that morning, then at 5pm I went back to my OB to check and she said I was 5 cm dilated already. I was surprised because I had no pain whatsoever. So off to l/d we went, got a pitocin drip and got an epidural right away and it worked beautifully. 3 hours later he was in my arms, with only 10 minutes of pushing.
I hope this new baby is more like my 2nd delivery.
All 3 of my pregnancies have been completely different. L&D was different for my first two as well. My son was born at 37 weeks after my water broke but I had to be given Pitocin to actually start contractions. It was a very scary birth and he was born with forceps. My daughter was born at 39 weeks and it was pretty fast and easy.
DS1 was born two days before his due date, labored for 7 hours start to finish, one and a half of that was pushing. I was 4cm at my 39 week appointment, and he was sunny-side up.
DS2 was born at 36 weeks after the dr decided to break my bag of water because I was 6 1/2 cm, but not feeling contractions (sent to L&D from my weekly appointment). DS2 was born 2 1/2 hours later, pushed through 3 contractions.
I would say they were pretty similar. I dilate early and have pretty fast labors (I consider DS1's labor fast because he was sunny-side up, which makes things more difficult all around). The main difference was that DS2 came so much earlier. I am hoping DD's labor/delivery is similar to DS2 and that she waits at least until she's full term
