Exercise and Baby Carriers

Hi, ladies! I got the go ahead from my doctor to begin exercising again. Had surgery back in October and due to some complications, I've had to take it easy. Now, this may sound like a crazy question, because I know that walking with baby in a carrier is great exercise. The weather is yucky, though, and my apartment complex has a work out room. Is it safe to walk on a treadmill with baby in the carrier? At a gentle pace...maybe 3mph?

Letting him play on the floor next to me would not be an option, because his curious little self, DS is 14 months, would be climbing all over the equipment, and I know he would get hurt.

Thanks!

ETA: I use an Ergo, and DS loves it.

  • Maybe in a back carry, but I would still be hesitant.  It just seems like it would be easy to fall off and hurt both of you.  What about walking around in a shopping mall or something instead?

  • I agree that it sounds potentially dangerous, a mall sounds good or even bundling up and going outside, even in bad weather it's good to get the fresh air aslong as you can wear enough tonstaybwarm.
  • I would.  I mean I suppose there's the possibility that you could fall off but unless you are in the habit of falling off of treadmills or falling down while wearing, I wouldn't worry about it ;)
  • We did. It was a sanity savior with our refluxy, colicky baby.

This is what I was thinking. I mean, I would start out very slow and be quite cautious. I'll give it a try and just be careful. Thanks!
