We recently realized that with both boys and both of us working, life has been incredibly hectic. We feel like we are constantly running, and only have a few hours each night to do homework, projects, tutoring, therapy, sports classes, dinner, quality time, and anything else we'd like to do. The weekends are our only time to really relish, and we pack in all the fun we can have along with all the chores and errands that didn't get done during the week. It would all be manageable, but with M's increasing needs and the difficulty we're starting to run into scheduling everything into so little time, we feel the load is getting a little ridiculous.
I've been at my current place of employment over 10 years and in March, I will be vested in the retirement plan. So, come the end of May, I will be retiring!
It really is only a temporary "retirement." I will use the first few weeks until the boys are out of school to finally make their lifebooks. Then, after they are out, we will spend the summer together. That means the boys can be involved in the swim team again, and will not have to go to camp unless they want to. I will use the rest of this year to process their readoptions and find us our dream house, because we will relocate at the beginning of 2015 (finally!). At that time, my husband will retire from banking, and I'll start working again. Which means that I will use 2014 looking for a job in our new location. I will work and my husband will be a SAHD for a few years (and eventually a WAHD).
It's all finally coming together! This was our plan all along (originally dubbed our "2 - 4 year plan" -- Ha!), and I am so excited for everything that's coming up! YEAY!!!!!
Re: We made an exciting decision, see my new ticker?
TTC #2, Operative hysteroscopy March 2011; IVF #1 long lupron protocol April 2011-cancelled due to poor response; IVF #2 flare protocol May 2011=hospitalization due to abdominal hemorrhage during ER and no fert due to MFI issues. Moving onto international adoption from Moldova January 2013!
Good for you, where do you think you may be moving? Somewhere warm?
Mother of two wonderful boys! Blessed through adoption.

NO!!! Somewhere rural and in the mountains, most likely still in the Northeast. We'd love to go out West, but it's not practical since all our family is in the East.
And I love the A-Team!
LOL! I'm so glad there are people who can stand to live in the North! It is 37 degrees outside and I'M GOING TO HURT PEOPLE I HATE IT SO MUCH.
That's not true. But still. It's way too cold. Way.
Anyway, congratulations! I've always thought it'd be more fun to retire a few times.

Mar '12: Homestudy interrupted by change in Uganda requirements - where do we go from here?
After searching and searching, back with Uganda but with our homestudy agency's program.
Homestudy complete July 19
USCIS I-600A submitted July 20. Biometrics appointments arrived Aug 17; fingerprinted Aug 21; 171H received Sept 25th. On the wait list Oct 1st: #18. By Jan 25th, we're #13!
Come home, baby A!
How exciting! That sounds fabulous.
A friend of mine did something similar. She stayed home for a few years while her DH was the breadwinner, and they completed a move from MD to VT. At that point she jumped back into her field and he became the SAHD while fixing up their new (old!) house. They couldn't be happier.
Congrats!
