Babies: 6 - 9 Months

crib padding

Is there padding that extends from top to bottom when crib is lowered to lowest setting? An extra wide padding, per se? I have quite the rambunctious lo and want to keep her noggin protected... as sometimes when I lay her down she wakes up and plays. Now she's found excitement in pulling up. Even thought her crib is low as it goes. She figured out how to pull herself up and stand, so I'm worried

Re: crib padding

  • What about getting or making a teething guard for the top of the crib rails? It won't protect her from the whole side of the crib, but it will at least be a cushion if she falls on the top edge. Also, keep an eye out if you have a regular crib bumper. I have heard some babies stand on it and use it to help them climb out of the crib.

  • I took the regular one down in fear of that exact scenario. I'll look into teething guard. But I'm mostly in fear of her losing balance and hitting her head, she's fearless lol, sigh.

Do you have a suggestion on teethe guard? Thanks!
  • Sounds like our LO. Beware as I bought teething guards for that reason from BBB and they Velcro On. Don't buy those as my LO thinks its a game and undoes the Velcro and plays with them in the crib. Sigh! We had to take his music box out as he used it for a step stool and recent ripped the mobile down.

There is a company that makes individual crib bar bumpers. I think they are kind of expensive but maybe this is what you're looking for?

DS isn't pulling up yet but  I am definitely getting nervous for it!

These are awesome! But gosh they are pricey!
  • Ugh DS is a pro at standing. He's fallen straight back on his mattress a couple times, but I worry about him smacking his head off the rail, too. Honestly I just try to let him practice a lot so he's better at it. I also try to show him how to safely get down.

What makes me really nervous is that before we lowered the mattress, DS would hang his head way over the rail and now that he's lower, I see him trying to pull himself up and over, almost like to escape! He picks one foot up and tries to climb the slats! Ugh!!

Oh gosh! DD thinks she's a pro but still has a bit to go. I worry about her falling to the side and crashing in the middle of the night or early a.m. As sometimes she wakes up to play and puts herself back to sleep. Her giggling wakes me up, in a good way, lol. But now I'm very worried since she's discovered her new trick, lol.
