Re: *Tips and Tricks Tuesday*

  • I tend to get a rotisserie chicken on the way home from work when dinner calls for diced or shredded chicken. It takes one extra step out and saves a bunch of time in the kitchen. I've timed it. It takes me less time to get it than it does to cook it. Also, i can normally get a couple different meals out of it.

When the laundry is done and just sitting in the basket waiting to be folded and put away, we dump it all on our bed. That way, it has to get done before we go to bed for the night.

We did this Sunday night - 3 baskets! Surprise

  • You know those binder clips? I keep one clipped on my diaper bag and it has come in handy for a few super random things with the baby

  • This may not help anyone but us, but I'll share anyway. Our fridge is stainless steel so magnets don't stick to it. We realized that our exterior doors are metal (it's an older house), so now N has somewhere to play with his magnetic letters :)

Same with us! It actually goes by really fast when we are both folding though.

Yep we do the same thing! I get really annoyed when I dump it on the bed and it's still there hours later :P

  • Putting laundry away is my least favorite chore, therefore it doesn't get done very often. I should try this bed trick.

We aren't juice drinkers so we never have any in the house. I save the juice from the jars of fruit packed in 100% juice (It's mainly white grape) so that I have some on hand in case I have a recipe that calls for it or something for G needs thinned out or sweetened. Then, if I have to toss it before we've used it all it's nbd.

  • NBR - I was wondering if anyone had a tip for getting grease/oil stains out of clothes.  MIL suggested dish soap because it is a degreaser, but that didn't work.

I've had great luck mixing one part dawn to two parts peroxide and then scrub it into the stain and let it sit.

It needs to be regular old blue dawn, nothing fancy.

This is good sound logic. And I even sort all our laundry and leave it on the bed to be put away before bed. And H never fails to dump it all on the floor. :(

My tip: Apply moisterizer and make up with your ring finger in an upward and in motion instead down and out like you would normally do. The ring finger is your softest finger and your not pulling on delicate skin.

This may not work now since I guess you already have the stain but I remember this one time my best friend and I went to the movies and we got a huge thing of popcorn with extra butter. When we came out of the theater my friend's brand new jeans were soaked with butter. She told me to get rid of the stain her grandma dumped baby powder on top of it to absorb the grease and then washed it. I have never done it but I can vouch the jeans looked brand new again.

Yes! We use our front and garage door as well as the fridge. K runs his magnetic cars on them. Our fridge is covered in art work.
