Is this normal?

My son is pinning down smaller babies. he lays down on top of them and makes them cry, wont let them up until someone takes him off the child. I don't know if he is mad at the other child or if he is meaning to hurt them on purpose or if this is just experimental to see what he can do?

Re: Is this normal?

  • I have noticed when a friend of L comes by he tries to be a little dominant (he is 2months older) L is taller than he is and pays no attention to him. I have also noticed when L sees his cousin whom is 5months younger he is little dominant with him or when we see our friends baby whom is 10months younger.

L does not climb on top of them. Just tries to be more in charge.

  • My older son used to do this with our dogs. He hasn't ever done it with other kids until resently when he started pinning down his younger brother.

I wish I had more advice for you. Good luck, it might just be an attention getting phase.

  • I'm sorry I don't really have any advice. I would lead toward an attention seeking phase, too. Either that or it's his way to show affection (the same way some kids bite out of affection)?
