It's official

I had the 3 hr GTT on Saturday -- got the call from the nurse today.  The only part I passed was the fasting one. So now I get to join the GD group also.  Now to find out how this is going to impact meals for the family. 

Please tell me I won't have to give up my slice of lemon in my otherwise plain water --it's my only beverage vice since I don't drink soda as a general rule.

    Ha! If that is your only vice, you'll be just fine. It's not a vice at all and is really good for you. I do lemon ginger water all day and it has 0 impact on my sugar levels.

    It will really depend on how high your levels are. I failed the 3 hour by 1 point. Not joking. I just had to eat healthier than I had been and the highest number I saw on my meter was 210, but I had just eaten a ton of sugar (we went to a candy store for our anniversary, and I thought I was going to save a lot of the candy. I guess I didn't)...

    I doubt a slice of lemon in your water will be a problem. Adding lemon to water was suggested to me instead of plain water but it isn't something I care for.

    A year or two ago, that would have been a different story.  Dh and I stopped buying soda because my kids were drinking so much of it.  We decided if we didn't buy it, then it wouldn't be a temptation for any of us. 

    Now, mind you, I didn't mention my love for chocolate Devil -- but dh has already dealt with that -- he buried the leftover chocolate from Christmas in the bottom of the chest freezer never to surface until Easter. Though that was done to keep it away from the kids, it's getting double duty in keeping it away from me now too.Big Smile
