Skin issue help

I have arm acne, and I don't know what I should be doing to alleviate the issue.  I never had this issue until my pregnancy, and it's an awesome pregnancy addition that held on after.  I also wonder if it's because I still nurse once a day, and the hormones are still hanging on. Anyway, I moisturize every day after my shower. Is there a good product to help?

Re: Skin issue help

  • I think Neutragena (sp?) makes a full body acne wash?  I would maybe leave the moisturizer off your arms for a while to let them breathe.  The lotion might be clogging the pores in your arms?  IDK.  That's what I would try.  GL.

  • By arm acne, do you mean dry skin bumps (Keratosis pilaris)? If so, we use this on DD #1 for those bumps and it works wonders, but we also use it on DD #2 for her eczema and it is amazing!

A little bit of that, plus I think some of it is actual acne.  I've always had acne issues on my face, but I didn't have any issues anywhere else until my pregnancy.  Thank you!

  • I used to work for Proactiv and I know quite a bit about skin care. Proactiv makes a body wash. It works really great and will not stain your clothes like the face wash. I recommend using that. One common skin care myth is not use lotion or a moisturizer bc it will clog your pores. This is absolutely not the case! As long as you get non-comedogenic moisturizer it will not clog your pores. In fact NOT using a moisturizer can actually cause your skin to break out more. When skin is dry automatically produces oil to hydrate itself. This cause the clogging of the pores. You could probably use a face lotion on your arms in the affected areas. I highly recommend all of Proactiv?s products. They can be pricey so Neutrogena is a nice alternative. I would make sure you get a wash that exfoliates.  Also drink tons and tons of water.

If you have any questions feel free to PM me. I kind of love this stuff and loved working for Proactiv, if I could of made it on the salary I would have stayed forever!

Good to know- thank you. I used to use Proactiv on my face, but it became too expensive.  I will check out their body wash.

  • Have you tried exfoliating? Not with a loofah (my derm said to never use them on my skin because of the bacteria) but those rough gloves? It helps my acne when I'm breaking out. I was also recommended to use a body wash like OxyClean because of the active ingredients. Worked so far and it's like $4 for the bottle.
