Baby Showers

Double Baby Shower

My sister-in-law-to-be and I are due within a few weeks of each other and our family is having a double baby shower for us. It's at my house but that's not my question.

As an activity/keepsake I want everyone to sign and decorate a baby block so we have a set of baby blocks that has signatures and other decoratoins of people who were/are excited for her arrival. My SIL doesn't like the idea of blocks and wouldn't use them.

Do you have any suggestions of something else that would be fun for people? She suggested we could just do a signed onesie but my sister and I are arts n crafts people and wanted to do something people probably haven't seen before. Any suggestions of what we could do?

  • You could have your SIL pick out her favorite children's book and have everyone sign that.

  • What if you did the blocks for you/your baby and the onesie for her/her baby?

  • Children's book, pillow for the nursery, outside/inside cover of photo album...

Or have guests sign and decorate the mat for a frame that she can put baby's photo in.

And if its a girl, headband parties seem to be really popular: https://leslierocks.com/crafting-headbands/

  • I agree with the pp...have her do her thing for her little one and you keep the block idea. We did the blocks for SIL when she had her baby and my niece is four and still plays with them.

  • No suggestions but the block idea is really neat! I'm going to use it at the next shower I throw!

I agree with this.  I also agree with the other pp that said you should do "your" thing and your SIL can do "her's".  I like the mat for the frame idea...it is usable (like the blocks) whereas the onesie is not.

  • If I liked the block idea, I would do that for my guests and let her pick her own activity. She's a big girl, she can think of something she would like on her own :).

  • I just had a shower thrown for me two weeks ago that was really crafty.  We tie dyed cloth diapers that are going to be burp rags.  We used the regular prefold cloth diapers and they worked great.  They turned out SOO cool and I got a lot of compliments on how much fun it was by the guests.  The lady who threw my shower had a tie dye kit that had nice individual squirt bottles for all the colors.  I'm sure you wouldn't need the kit, but just to let you know there is one out on the market.
