18 month sleep regression

I know this is early for most for most S11 babies, but maybe moms with older kids have any words of wisdom? This past week, any time we try to put her to sleep it has been BAD. I read about an 18 month sleep regression, and she turns 18 months old today, so we are on track as far as timing for it. Anyone have any experience with this? How long are we in for it? Argh!

Re: 18 month sleep regression

  • I don't think we've hit it yet but there is a wonder week developmental leap about the same time plus language and other brain work going on.  Add some teeth (probably) and I've heard of this affecting naps and night sleep.  Apparently can be 4-6 weeks but depends on the kid.  N usually has a couple weeks of disruption if past leaps are any indication.  I'm not looking forward to it since we are in a muck moat with her nap transition right now.

I hadn't heard this before and now I am terrified. E will be 18 months when this LO arrives. I don't think I can handle two not sleeping Crying

UGH! I thought we were past all the regressions. I'll be in the same boat...a newborn and an 18 month old not sleeping terrifies me. Looks like DH and I will have to divide and conquer.

  • Thanks for the advice, and sorry to scare those of you with another one on the way. I've never had a great sleeper, but we finally had a pretty good thing going for a little while, so this is just making me crazy anxious. We do have new molars coming in, and lots of new words, too. I really, really hope it passes quickly.
