Here is our Question of the day: What is your favorite television show, past or present? I think my all-time favorite is Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but my current favorite would be Hart of Dixie. In the summer my favorite is definitely So You Think You Can Dance.

Re: Adoption Prayer Group : )

  • Thanks for the prayers! It has been a scary week for my mom. She has had slurred, slow speech and been confused. Her body is very swollen and she has screamed out in pain at least one night. I have found her face down asleep on the floor twice this week. We went to her pmtd doctor's office this week, but the doctor was out of town. The partner was too afraid to do anything so told us to come back next week -Tuesday - and also referred her to a neurosurgeon which is also next week -Wednesday. Seems like a lot of closed doors and that she is getting worse. She is very frustrated and depressed. She lives with us and we really have no idea what to do to help her. I jumped in and was pretty aggressive this week and got some things accomplished for her, but she is pretty angry at me for doing so. We got her approved for home health care so will have a nurse stopping by just to check on her a few times a week, also got her approved for a transportation service to get her to the doctor appointments. I take her to most, but it is getting to be too much to handle. She is only 51. It is a terrible situation. I really thought she was getting better and that is why we jumped into the adoption journey. I don't know yet if we need to pull out or not. Taking it one moment at a time for now and praying she will get better, gain independence, doctors will be able to help her and quit just referring her to someone else and DH and I will have courage to make the right decisions and be aggressive when we need to. This is very hard.

I am so sorry (( Hugs )) That is so hard, I'm so sad for your mom and for you and your DH too. It sounds like you are doing everything that you possibly can, you are doing a wonderful job in an awful situation. Just take it one step at a time, if you ever need to vent or talk feel free to post, PM or e-mail me.  I will be praying for all of you.

  • Today, for whatever reason, has been a tough day for me. I guess that's just part of the peaks and valleys that comes with adoption. I tell myself to always find a positive and there it is for today-

Joshua 1:9 ?Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.?

Our most recent loss in September was a son, who we intended to name Joshua- which means 'God Rescues'. On the day of surgery a man came to talk to us about research they wanted permission to enter our son in to help study possible genetic links to childhood leukemia. I thought, if our son can do something to help others then of course. Turns out the gentleman explaining everything to us was named Josh.

Today has been a tough day and I come on to find a quote from Joshua asking me to be strong of courage. Not all believe in signs, I respect that. I personally do and this is a sign I truly needed so Thank you!!!!

Favorite past TV show- Gilmore Girls. I dreamed about having a cool mom like that which I would be super close to and who supported me through thick and thin.

I also believe in signs and I'm so glad this verse spoke to you!  I read it this week in a devotional and immediately marked it for this week's post.  I hope things continue to get easier for you and I'm so sorry for your losses.

Also I love Gilmore Girls too, love Lorelai!

I love the verse for this week - it is absolutely right for where I am right now.

Favorite TV show of all time - probably Columbo. Now I'm all about Castle. :)

Married mom of 3 bio kids - trying to grow the family through adoption - either DIA or Fost-Adopt.
