how long does it take to cut a dang tooth?

Seriously, we're going on almost 3 weeks of active teething - drooling, fussing, hands in the mouth, constantly nursing.  And nothing!  I can literally see her 2 canines right under the gums and can feel several more.  My poor little baby is a dang mess.  How long does it take for them to finally pop through?  I can't take it anymore!!!!!!!

  • Oh my - that is a long time to be miserable! I don't know if there is an official answer, but my guess (without Googling it) is 1 week-2 months. Mine LO cuts teeth in phases. He'll be actively teething for a week with no teeth cutting in, then stop for a week or two and start again. GL!

  • Ugh, I feel your pain! LO has been teething hardcore for almost 2 weeks. He even tries to chew on the arms of the couch! I am soooo ready for all of this teething business to be over. It's cruel to everyone involved.

yes it is cruel!  DS is in the same boat.  Week 2 for the canines and the two left ones just popped through.  GL!

  • You ladies are so in tune with your kids' teething.  It makes me feel like I am missing something or not paying enough attention.  I don't have much practice with teething as DD did get her first tooth until the week before xmas and the second popped through right after, but there really seemed to be no indication that she was teething.  Nothing.

Right now we are going through a rough patch with sleeping/napping, but I have no clue how you can connect the dots to tell if it's teething.  Especially if teething lasts a couple weeks - holy moly.  How do you girls know it's teething instead of just going through a phase?  Obviously looking back you could tell some times, but during?
