Baby carrier after CS?

My sister in law sent me all of her baby carriers to use, a mei tai, ergo, and we have a moby. I really want to wear DS now that he is more alert during the day.

when do you think it would be safe? We are 11 days post-op.

Re: Baby carrier after CS?

  • How big is he right now? I would try it for about an hour or so, and then see how you feel. I would think most newborns would be light enough to carry that it wouldn't bother you. As long as it doesn't cause you pain, I'm sure you're fine. hth

I agree with this, but wanted to say DD hated the carrier (mei tai) at first. GL.

  • I would say it depends on your body and how you're feeling.  Try putting it on without your LO and make sure it doesn't touch your body anywhere that you're still sore.  Then try it on with LO in it at home and get comfortable with it before anything else.  I would say it totally depends on your body and how you're feeling.
  • I would try the moby.  Your LO may or may not enjoy it at this point.  DD hated any type of carrier until she was 3 months.

  • I put ds in the moby at about 4 weeks pp but he was in the nicu for 3 weeks and just under 7 pounds.  I would wear him for a little bit at a time and I did notice I would get a bit sore after a while.  I'd try to moby around the house and see how you feel!
