So, it was my husband's idea to do a "mid-century rocket" (his words) theme for the birthday party. I'm having a lot of fun planning it, and even though it's become bigger than I'd originally imagined, it's not going to be very expensive because we're not doing a full meal. Howeeeeverrrrr... I am kind of obsessed with platters, cake stands, basically any type of serving dish. I am finding so many cute mid-century party items on Etsy that would really fit the theme and look pretty darn awesome mixed in with the cheaper things I've already bought from local stores.
Problem: Husband told me from the beginning NO MORE CAKE STANDS (and by that he really means dishes of any kind). BUT Husband has also told me that when we get moved into our new house he thinks it would be fun to have a house warming party along the same theme (minus the rockets). That would be two parties in a matter of a couple months where we could use a lot of the same things. So, totally worth it, right? Yeah, I think so too. Now I just have to convince him...
Re: dilemma...
Look up party supply rentals and show him the price difference. I'm sure it's cheaper to buy your own.
BTW - I love your siggy picture!

LOL. Etsy is a terrible and wonderful place. I would get a bunch, but not too many that you would never use again and have trouble storing. I don't use cake stands that much, but I use platters a lot.
