Fortunately B doesnt hit, but she throws anything and everything when she is throwing a fit and lately it has been aimed at me. It all started out with teaching her how to throw the ball for the dog, and now she is this destructive little person with an angry streak.
I've just been basically saying "no throwing things at mommy" and walking away, but it hasn't worked. Ideas?
Re: s/o hitting...throwing
Can you maybe give her something that can be her target? I think it's still difficult at this age for them to distinguish the difference between throwing for fun (like for the dog), and throwing when upset (throwing at you).
Maybe put out a small laundry basket (Dollar Tree?) and show her to throw in that, and only throw there?
B loves to throw things. She does sometimes throw things when she's upset but, she loves to throw things for fun too. This weekend it was shoes. I'm having a hard time distinguishing between what's ok to throw, and what isn't.
Thankfully when G throws it only goes a few inches so we haven't had to deal with this.
Would it be possible to remove her from the objects she's throwing? Say "No throwing things at mommy" and then pick her up and put her in the dining room (or some room without projectiles in it)
This was touched in recently in a Mama & Me class that D and I go to monthly. The nurse suggested the same thing. Try to explain there is a time & place for through by giving her a ball or toy & a basket or bucket. She also said that less it more. Like No throwing at Mama & show her the basket. She explained big long explinations at this age is like the Charlie Brown effect. Wan Wan Wan.
