TTC After a Loss

Shortening cycles after D&E?

Hello everyone.  I usually post on the TTGP board, but I felt that this would be a better board for this question.  Has anyone experienced shortening cycles after their D&E?  My first cycle was 25 days, then I had a typical 28 day cycle for me.  The last two cycles have been 23 and 21 days.  Has anyone else had anything similar?  I had a D&E at 16 weeks pg due to our baby passing from a chromosomal abnormality.  Not sure if this would be causing the shorter cycles, but it does have me wondering.  TIA!

Re: Shortening cycles after D&E?

  • I personally didn't, but many ladies here have experienced weird cycles (short, long, erratic, etc.) after their D&E/C. I'm sure some will be able to share their experiencs.

  • The general conclusion I've come to after being here for a while and after going through two miscarriages and one surgery is that after a miscarriage your cycle can change - be it longer, shorter, earlier/later O, heavier, lighter, etc - but that how it changes varies from person to person and even from event to event within the same person. I don't think you're going to get a simpler answer.

  • It wouldn't surprise me. My first loss my cycles stayed the same length but O shifted to later. This loss it looks like my O date shifted back to CD14/15...and so far my LP seems a smidge longer.

Miscarriages sometimes mess with cycles. Sometimes things will return to normal, sometimes the change becomes the new normal.
