what other food can i give her???

ok so baby girl is 9 months old- i've been going slow with foods- but she is an EATER- i feel like she needs more substance.

i give her formula still-

and then i do a mid morning brunch- consists of a jar/pouch and a half of vegetable or fruit purees (like 6 oz-8oz) some puffs

then she gets dinner- more puree's and i just started giving her little bits of chicken and yogurt melts-

she likes picking stuff up with her hands and feeding herself-

what else can i give her?

(i have to keep in mind that she gets very easily constipated- so thats why i stopped giving her the rice and oatmeal)

what else is filling, that she can feed herself and age appropriate??? help

  • DS loves to feed himself too. We do Cheerios, small pieces like the size of Cheerios of avocado, banana, soft ripe pear, steamed carrots, blueberries quartered into tiny pieces, small pieces of raspberries, and might start doing tiny pieces of whole wheat toast.

Oooo I like all of those I feel like the puffs are not nutritional so I like the idea of whole wheat toast too
  • Right now we're sticking with diced fruits and veggies, small pieces of bread (like tiny pieces of pancakes, waffles etc), and slivers of lean meat. We also tried eggs, but she hates them.

  • A wide variety of dry cereals, canned or fresh fruit, all sorts of baby junk food (puffs, wagon wheels, yogurt melts, cheese/veggie fingers, mum mums), and his new favorite is sticks of cheese. Those are his snacks. His meals are usually whatever we're eating. Breakfast can be eggs, cereal bar, cream of wheat (once it's cooled and coagulated, he can easily feed himself) and grown up oatmeal (same as cream of wheat).

  • D's gets constipated too so I usually give him prunes for lunch and he does fine with puffs and oatmeal, it really helps!
  • Oatmeal is actually really good for constipation - I've got two little constipated girlies and they get going very soon after getting their oatmeal. Just stay away from bananas, they back them up. My girls love cut up fruit and veggies, pure greek yogurt (with fruit pur?e to sweeten), cottage cheese, cheese, fish, shellfish and chicken, hardboiled and scrambled eggs, and wholewheat pasta.

  • DD LOVES egg yolks. They are easy to eat for them and doesn't take much time to make a bunch of hard boiled eggs beforehand.

  • I pretty much feed her anything that we end, but just cut up really small pieces. How about fruit cut up, like banana, apples, pears, etc.

  • Scrambled eggs with cheese are my go-to food when I need something quick. I try to let it cook more like an omelette , so its easier for DD to grab.

I know some people say no egg-whites, but DD has been eating the whole egg for a few months with no issues. It was actually our pedi's suggestion.

  • We just had our 9mo ped appt and she said they can eat anything we eat except shellfish and nuts. We give a 4-4.5oz jar of oatmeal or yogurt, they share a Gerber yogurt and a bottle for breakfast. 2 4oz puree and sometimes cheerios and a bottle for lunch. 2 4oz purees and cheerios with a bottle for dinner. We ate starting to puree the homemade stuff less thin for them and mashing more. They haven't tried feeding themself anything but cheerios.
