Are there any activities you've found that your toddler will do sans Mama? The only thing I can do if I need to put dinner together or do some work is put the TV on. He's still only watching about 1/2 hr a day when I need some sanity but I was just wondering if you've found any other options that yours will do independently??
Re: Independent Activities
Some activities are coloring in his coloring book, drawing on his white board/chalkboard easel, playing on his train table or with cars on his car floor mat, looking at books and playing with stickers and sticker books. He got a giant piggy bank for Xmas so sometimes I'll dump the coins and ge'll put them back through the slot.
Nate will color, play playdough, or do puzzles independently. The only thing is that I can't start it with him. If I show him how to do it or sit down with him from the beginning, I'm doomed. I just have to hand him the toy/craft and walk away quickly! Thankfully, he loves puzzles and has been trained in playdough use (we give him a cookie sheet to keep it on), but the crayons are scary. He only gets two colors if he's by himself so I can locate them later and the second he decides he's done with coloring, the crayons must be scooped up or the walls will be decorated shortly.
A too. He plays independently most of the time on the train table, with blocks, puzzles, his FP zoo, etc. He really doesn't want me to do much with him, but he also doesn't mind my presence haha.
DS is actually a pretty independent player, but he likes to "check in" with me often, so it's nice when I can find something that holds his attention.
One toy that's been a pretty big hit lately is this Melissa and Doug reusable sticker book. He asks for it by name, and when I put it on the dining table for him, he'll sit at the table and work on it quietly.
