If I want to exclusively BF/Pump? (if it works out.)
I have no choice but to go back to work after 6 short weeks. I just got the job I was waiting for 3 years to get, and I'm not covered by FMLA yet. It breaks my heart since my current job would give me almost 5 months. I'm still struggling with that.
If I drop the baby off at daycare at 7:30 and pick up at 4:15, how many times will I pump at work to keep up with feedings at daycare?
Re: How many times will I pump during the day?
3 pumpings a day with feeding dd right before I left the house in the morning, and again right after I picked her up at day care.
However many feedings you will miss during the day is the number of pumpings you will need to do.
I am not sure about the number of times you have to pump, I am going back to work Monday. I just wanted to let you know that you are not the only person who has to go back at 6 weeks. I also just got my job. I personally feel that knowing ahead of time that I was only going to get 6 weeks made it a lot easier. I actually haven't cried about in 2 weeks. I am sure tomorrow I will be all tears though.
When I first got back, I pumped 3x/day, but then I realized that I get just as much pumping only 2x/day, so that's what I do. I didn't go back to work until DS was 6 mo, though, so my milk was already well-established. Not sure if that makes a difference. (And, fwiw, I've gone weeks with only pumping 1x/day and have gotten almost as much. It just depends on the timing.)
