Hi all,
I'm moving from Colorado to Massachusetts in a few weeks and I'm 20 weeks along. Unfortunately the docs here -- who are fantastic -- don't know anyone in Mass. I would love recommendations (or warnings!) pertaining to doctors, doulas, and hospitals in the Worcester area. Thanks in advance!
Re: Worcester Area OB, Doula, Hospital Recs
I have had a wonderful experience with my doctors at UMASS Memorial. I was originally treated by an RE who has an office in Worcester (at the hospital) and an office in Westborough.
For my first pregnancy back in April/May, I randomly selected an OB out of the Women's Health of Central Massachusetts. I had a terrible experience. After an early u/s which I knew did not show sufficient growth, the doctor tut-tutted my concern, assuming I simply didn't know my dates and I had to insist on further blood testing which indeed proved that my pregnancy was not viable. They provided NO support or information on managing my miscarriage and it made a devastating experience that much worse.
I returned to my RE after the miscarriage (he was amazing) and when I got pregnant again, I chose to use an OB out of the same Worcester office. I have had the best experience with her. The entire staff has been extremely caring and sensitive to my PgAL concerns and they all appreciate my active involvement in my health management rather than try to prevent my involvement. Even though I live about 30 minutes from the hospital, I don't mind going in for my appointments. I appreciate that all my lab work and u/s are done on site and that I will be delivering in the same location.
Total hearsay, but an acquaintance just delivered her son at the hospital in Leominster and did not have a good experience.
Welcome to the area soon. Bring your snow shovel! We've just had two storms in 3 days. Could be an interesting winter!
I've seen Dr. Gabrielle Reine of central mass obgyn in Shrewsbury for the past 11 years. She's been by obgyn through 2 children, and now my third pregnancy. Affiliated with UMass Memorial. She's great!
