Deep breaths and a PSA

Trying to talk some sense into someone over FB will not accomplish anything. Especially about child safety recommendations. Like rear facing. Because you know, the absolute worst thing in the world is broken legs. Not the internal decapitation thing. Deep breaths. Deep deep breaths. Oh and the best part, she called me sweetheart. Because that's not at all condescending.

  • Ugh. Don't let the bozos grind you down.

  • She wasn't a friend of mine so it was even worse because it was just a random Internet stranger. She also talked about how she uses traditional bumpers because getting arms and legs stuck is awful. So is suffocation! In fact, that's worse!

She said, you have to do what is best for your family and everything has some sort of risk so you shouldn't listen to the recommendations. Yeah just don't listen to any of those LIFE SAVING recommendations. Seems about right.

  • I'm sorry you had that experience. Sometimes it best to give them the resources and leave it at that. Folks will do what they are going to do. I find, personally, that I feel my energy is better spent sending out prayers and thoughts that they never experience a car accident with their LO in the car FF before it is recommended.

Some get defensive when you point out that FF is dangerous before 2. We are going to try to RF until DD is 3. We will see how that works out.

Its just not worth the energy sometimes to get into it over FB. Also, was it on their wall? I would probably take it to PM at that point because they feel like their parenting is being questioned publically and that can put up a wall.

I took it to PM with my friend. I didn't know this lady who was commenting on her status. I left the information on the status citing resources and said I was then leaving the conversation because I tend not to argue with Internet strangers. (Unless I'm here) she never posted after that.

  • My EX MIL thought she new everything better then anyone else because she quote has been raising babies before I was even thought of. Some of my pet peeves were child seat in front seat and facing forward, ceral in bottle at very young age and water. I finally put my young baby in daycare instead of leaving with her because they would at least follow my instructions.
