Worst headache of my life

To start off, I neverrrrrrr get headaches. Ever. Not even hungover. I have my weekly appt tomorrow am but I am in so much pain I'm hoping you ladies can help me with your experiences.

At last weeks appt my BP was higher than it normally is (I usually have low BP). They had to retake it 4 times to get the numbers they wanted to see. They just told me they would monitor me in my future appts. Didn't say anything else.

Fast forward to last night, I started to get a headache. Didn't think anything of it. Took 2 Tylenol - didn't help. 4 hrs later took 2 Benadryl praying it would help me sleep. Nothing. The pain is so bad it woke me out of my sleep and I took 2 more Tylenol at 1:30am. None of this helped. On a scale of 1-10 I would have to say this is a 9. It has not let up at all since yesterday. No matter what I do. I try lying down, lying on each side, sitting up. Cold compress.

Since it Sunday I will have to go into L & D if this doesn't get better. Does anyone have any suggestions? Anyone ever been through something like this? I've had a txt book pregnancy so far so this is new for me. . . I'm not looking for a diagnosis, just some advice/experiences! should I go to my local pharmacy to check my BP?

Call your doctor asap. They will most likely have you go into ld.

It's very possible the headache is related to your BP. You could also be coming down with a cold or sinus infection.

I would be tempted to go check my BP and then call the on call OB if its high.

Also, make sure you are drinking lots of water because dehydration can lead to headaches as well.

I would go to straight to L&D, high BP can be a sign of something serious like pre E. At the very least, put in a call to your care provider to see what they rec. GL mama! Sending you healthy vibes!

Was just lurking but I really think you need to at least check your blood pressure. This same thing happened to me when I was 37 wks and started w a horrible headache. I checked my bp at Walmart the next day and it was 158/100 which was way too high I called the dr and they made me go to ld I was monitored all night and sent home and scheduled for a recheck at the office the following tues where my bp was again high and my dr decided to induce me that evening. High blood pressure can come on quickly and if your experiencing symptoms like headache esp one that your describing you may need to be induced before it becomes pre e. not to scare you but take it seriously, I'm sure everything will turn out fine :

drink a bunch of water. not only will it help with your blood pressure it usually will help with the headaches. Ive had some pretty nasty dehydration ones and i will claim that i was hydrated and all until i was ordered ivs at l&d. so good luck and drink some water as well as call your ob or l&d. couldn't hurt to get checked!

Agreed. While it could just be a normal headache, if it's something more serious you don't want to blow it off. A 9 is higher than the worst pain I had in labor!

I would call your doctor, they might have you go to L&D. While it may be nothing it could be very serious with your high BP.

Call your doctor. High bp in pregnancy is pretty serious.

My BP tends to be on the high end of normal. I was told if I had a bad headache that wouldn't go away or if I took tylenol and it didn't help that I was to call in and if I couldn't get ahold of anyone to go to L & D. Don't wait. Better safe than sorry.

Go to L&D or an ER, regardless of what your BP is currently.

While pre-e is the highest likelihood, a severe headache that is out of character for you can possibly represent other very serious (arguably more serious then pre-e) problems.

Hope it is just a random bad headache. But I do think you should go have it checked out.

Call your Dr or go to ld, I had severe headaches and pre eclampsia in the endof my third trimester, very important for your health and your babies health to get medical case

Thank you everyone for the advice and responses. My headache is still here and nothing is helping. Even tried a Neti pot since im a little stuffed up. That didnt help. I went to rite aid to check my BP and it was 137/91. I waited a few minute and took it two more times since I know it can fluctuate and it was 125/76 then 132/80. Like I said before I usually have super low BP so even these numbers aren't normal for me. I am heading to l & d now to go get it checked out. Call your dr asap and tell him or her what youve been experiencing! I am on bp meds now ive never had high bp at all til the day i went into labor..even the day i got discharged i was still having problems with it so the doc prescibed me meds and so far its been pretty good since being on the meds!

I called and my dr was iffy but told me to go into l d just in case. Better to be safe than sorry since my bp is varying from normal to high. I just got here and am waiting ... Fingers crossed everything is ok !
