This is my 3rd baby and I have never had such horrible back pain! It's mostly when I'm sitting. It's always the same spot on the right side along my spine. Anyone else having this? If so what helps?
I had sciatic nerve pain with DS, and it was painful despite any position that I was in. Does the pain radiate or "shoot" anywhere? Is it achy, or stabbing?

No it's just on one side of back and doesn't shoot anywhere. Same spot everytime! It's achy but bad pain. It only gets better to walk.
I started having this about a month ago. During my hour long car ride to work, it felt like there was a dagger in my back (on the right next to my spine, about half way up). I was then in pain all day and my car ride home was excruciating and by the time I got home I could barely make dinner and do the dishes. Once Christmas break came, I was able to stay home for 2 weeks and I was fine. Now that I'm back at work, I can feel a dull pain, but nothing like before. I don't feel it when I'm on my couch, so I'm convinced its from the hard seat in my car with the combination of my ribs spreading to accomodate my organs shifting from my growing LO.
I had a painful spot and my OB said it was due to a pinched nerve. He said in pregnancy muscles often get tight and can press into nerves causing painful spots. Heating pads helped but the only thing that made it better was when my OB actually rubbed it out. I know a lot of OB's don't do that so you might consider getting a massage to see if that helps.

This, except it is on my left side. And it is always much worse when I'm in the car. I've actually started putting my purse in between my back and the seat. It forces me to sit with better posture and takes some of the pressure off of my back. I think I'm gonna buy a pillow, or something to help out.

Yes, and my ob ordered an ultrasound to make sure it wasn't kidney stones. Turns out it's my kidney being squished into my back.
So far, heating pads, baths, and lying down helps. I'm hoping to get a massage soon.

Oh. My. Goodness. Yes. I have taken to calling if my "spot of pain". It's on my right side, too and it's just terrible. Mine is not nerve pain, and at least is somewhat relieved when my husband rubs it each night, but I just feel like a jerk asking him to rub my back every day.
I'm on my third and had terrible pain a couple weeks ago, but mine ended up being sciatica. The only thing that helped me was using a maternity support belt. I could barely walk, but after I wore it around the clock for a few days, I haven't had any more pain (from that at least).
