DS loves to stand up holding onto our hands, but I'm really nervous to let him try to pull up on furniture. I can just see him bashing his noggin across the coffee table. Should I get a padded ottoman or something?
Eh, I'm a believer in letting kids learn how not to hurt themselves. We just put corner protectors on our coffee table. Ds has definitely bumped his head more than a few times, but that is part of them learning how to pull up, balance, and manuever.
DS was 4.5 months when we let him stand on the ground and hold onto the couch. Just stand near him if yore nervous. We also let him in his crib but I'm afraid of him hitting his face, but I'm thinking of wrapping the rail with a blanket when he does it.
To help my LO have something to "walk" along, I put a dining room chair on its side making a little U with the couch. That gave him an edge to walk along. When he first learned to pull up and walk, he wanted to be facing the inside of the room, not the inside of the couch, so that made it something attractive for him.
