Natural Birth

Transverse at 28w

Hey ladies. I had my 28-week appt with my midwife yesterday, and when she measured my belly I was measuring at 26 weeks. She started feeling around my belly and asked me where I was feeling the most motion from the baby. I told her on my right side, but also some movement on my left. She felt around a little more, and said, "yep, your baby is definitely sideways right now." Greeeaaat. She didn't seem too concerned, and said that there's plenty of time for baby to flip, but of course I'm worried that LO won't budge in the next couple of weeks. Should I be doing anything right now (spinning babies exercises?) or should I just let things be and hope baby turns on his/her own?

I'm fairly active-besides chasing around a 2-year old most of the day, I do prenatal yoga most nights and I do light cardio at the Y a few times per week.

Any advice is appreciated. TIA!

  • Keep doing what what you're doing. 28 weeks is too early to worry about this. Start getting mildly concerned 6 weeks from now if nothing has changed.

  • You're worrying too soon. Right now, it's all normal. It just doesn't matter until the baby gets bigger and can't roll around as easily. It also wouldn't mean much if baby was head down, feet down, or any other position. It's just meaningless at this point.

    Ditto.

  • Thanks everyone. I know I'm being paranoid; I'm just a worrier by nature.

I will try to stop freaking out about baby's position at this point! :)

  • My first was breech until 35 weeks but flipped on his own. Do not worry...you'll make yourself crazy. Also, don't tell other people. Despite the complete inaccuracy of her belief, my mother kept harping about how babies don't turn after 32 weeks and it made me nuts.

  • My first went from regular to posterior before I gave birth (I didn't have back labor until about the 3rd day of labor when it got the most intense), so baby can move at any time.  I've read tons of stories too about mama's who were planning on delivery breach babies and then they came out the right way.  You have plenty of time.  I'm currently at almost 31 weeks and also have tranverse baby at the moment.
