Any ideas for a gift for an awesome doula? I would really like to find something unique and special to thank her for an awesome birth experience. Thanks for your ideas!
This isn't like a birthday or Christmas, so you can never go wrong with cash or a gift certificate tucked in a thoughtful card thanking her for her services.
H and I gave her a nice tip and told her if she ever needed a reference we would be more than happy to talk to any perspective clients about our birth experience with her. IMO cash was way better than buying her a useless gift that would just clutter up her house.
We got ours a massage gc for baby #1. Baby #2 we're a lot more strapped financially, so I think we're going to send her a Starbucks GC with a note of how very much we appreciate her.
We sent her a card with a tip and a gift card for a nice dinner out.
I don't think a tip is required, but my doula really made all the difference in getting my natural VBAC, so I wanted her to know how much I appreciated her. Since my doctor also played a huge role in having a successful VBAC, I sent him a large gift basket of goodies. Again, not required, but I was just so grateful for him going out of his way for me and above and beyond the standard level of care.

Re: Doula Gift
Does she have any specific hobbies or interests?

A glowing recommendation she can show future clients. Bonus if you can get your DH to write something, too.
She's rather have a card, an extra tip, and a glowing reference than a bronzed uterus statue.
And baby photos are always welcome.
