Toddler formula?

I keep getting all these coupons for toddler formula.  I was hoping to give up the formula and move on to milk depending on what my ped says next week.  Layla is on Nutrimigen, lactose and soy free formula so I am not sure of the next step in her transition.

But I thought formula was done after one year.  Is toddler formula just to keep you spending lots of money?  Does anyone use it or do you just use whole milk?

Re: Toddler formula?

  • I honestly don't see the point in toddler formula. Makes more sense to move onto actual milk (whether it be soy, WCM etc) IMO.

  • My mother was trying to be good and bought toddler formula for dd. The only difference I can see in it is it's more expensive, and the third ingredient on the list is high fructose corn syrup. I really think it's just a ploy to get more money out of us.

  • I asked about this one of the last times we were at the pedi's office. I was told it's basically just to keep you spending money, like you guessed.

  • Our pedi said to just go straight to milk, in whatever form that may be. The toddler formula is a ploy to get you to keep spending money. As long as toddler is getting what they need through food and regular milk, there's no reason to continue formula.

  • We are on Elecare and we will be discussing transitioning to another milk/formula at his next GI appt. If we have to stay in the Elecare we can increase the number if dry powder scoops to make more calories in the milk or buy Elecare Jr which is the toddler formula. Nothing would make me happier than going on WCM it anything like it instead of the 18 bucks a day we are spending now on formula.

Oh you poor thing!  I thought the $7 a day on Nutrimigen sucked, but Elecare is just crazy expensive!  Good luck on saving some money soon!

  • DS isn't ready to go to WCM exclusively yet because his eating isn't consistent. I plan to keep him on some formula a while longer but I see no need to spend the extra money for toddler formula. I agree that it's a money scheme.
