From 7th percentile to 1st percentile....depressed. Venting

I'm not sure how my ob/gyn is so calm about this matter, but in two weeks I went from 7% to 1%. He's still growing symmetrically, but his weight is not up to par. Two weeks ago he was roughly 2 lbs. 3oz and now he's 2 lbs 12 oz. I'm so upset about this and I try not to just burst into tears in front of the doctor, but I'm so terrified. I've been resting and eating and sleeping. I feel so out of control in regards to what's going on and it's unnerving. At this rate, he's going to be so small by the time I give birth and I'm afraid that even more complications will come with that when he arrives. :(

  • Growth ultrasounds are notorious for being off by quite a but. I know it's easier said than done, but I'd try not to worry if your Dr. isn't worried.

This.  I have heard stories where a doctor will predict the weight and size of the baby and be WAY off.  Hoping that this is the case for you.  Keep eating and resting!

  • I'm so sorry to hear. How far along are you? I can't see tickers because I'm on mobile. I'm in the same situation and have my next growth scan on Thursday and am facing induction if she hasn't grown. Try not to get down on yourself, chances are there is nothing you can do. Most of this is out of our control. I also know how infuriating it can be to keep hearing that growth scans can be off. Yes, that may be true, but it doesn't make it any less terrifying or upsetting. You and your baby are in my prayers. If you would like you can DM me. I totally understand how painful and terrifying this is.

  • Did you have different techs at each ultrasound?  I'm sure everyone has slightly different preferences for clicking and measuring, which could throw results off by a decent margin.

  • My DS was growth restricted and this baby is as well.  In the past month, he has gone from the 32% down to the 15%.  Definitely not what I was hoping for so I can understand where you are coming from!

If you have any questions, feel free to ask me!  Here's to praying these babies stay in as long as possible!

  • My LO is also measuring small. So so so worrisome! Grow babies, grow! All I keep telling myself is it's out of my hands, and he is being taken care of the best I can.
