2nd Trimester

Nervous about finding out boy/girl

Last time I found out during an ultrasound. Didn't know I'd be finding out in advance. Now this time I know on Thursday (16 weeks 1 day) we find out and I'm nervous/anxious/stressed out, but not necessarily excited.  Craziness!  I see many ladies on here so stinking excited to find out so anyone else feel like me?  Ack

no clue how to delete my old siggy--sorry.  It's been awhile

Re: Nervous about finding out boy/girl

  • What is it that is making you nervous? I'm so confused about what would make you so nervous.

  • Are you hoping for a certain sex? Otherwise, I'm not sure why you'd be nervous.

  • I'm not really sure. We have all my son's old clothes and we've "done" a boy now so it feels like a boy would be easier.  A girl would be all new everything although I thought I wanted a girl.  And I guess I worry about them seeing something wrong on the u/s.  as dumb as it sounds it is all so very real after you find out what you are having.  Lots of bundled up concerns I guess...

  • I am excited but a bit apprehensive as well.  This isn't just a gender reveal for fun; its to check if the baby is growing properly.  I will be relieved when my A/S is over and we know what is going on with LO

  • Why don't you just go team green?

  • I was extremely nervous at my 19 week ultrasound - not because of the gender scan, but because it's been 7 years since I last had one and I was praying she was healthy and everything looked perfect. I've had a lot of acquaintances with extremely sad experiences with babies in the last 7 years, so I'm more aware of the anatomy scan than I ever have been. Luckily everything looked textbook perfect, according to our tech, but it took me a while to pinpoint the source of my nerves.

  • I am super nervous about our A/S. This is our first child and pregnancy, so its the "unexpected" that is making be nervous. Its exciting to see what we have created and to find out the gender. However, I am nervous about making sure that the baby is developing properly and has ten fingers and toes, healthy, and everything is alright.

I totally understand the nervous feeling!

  • I was nervous before the a/s and we are team green and this is our second.  I was worried that something would be wrong with the baby's organs, and it was on my birthday so if anything was wrong it would be a lasting reminder every year.  I felt a lot of relief after though, so hopefully it's the same for you.
  • I'm nervous too. I'm nervous something will be wrong with the little one's organs. I'm kind of a worrier.

And honestly, I'm slightly nervous about the gender. We've both decided as long as the baby is healthy and has no major problems we will be happy. But of course, everyone has a preference. BF wants a son so much. Like, he really...really wants a son. There are a few "what-ifs" we're dealing with because of antibodies in my blood and I might not be able to have a second child. So far, things are looking fine but I have to be checked every month. Because of that I'm just a little nervous. I know he'll love and accept his child but the anticipation is driving me nuts.

  • I know how you feel. My first ultrasound is not until January 31st and by then, I'll be over 20 weeks along. Yes, it's nice to know the gender, but like others have already said, it's about awaiting word on whether the baby is growing as it should be or not. I've been slightly concerned because I have only put on a pound since I found out I was pregnant, so I'm hoping the baby is gaining as it should. Praying all goes smoothly for ya!
