DS has been having spit up issues more often now then before. It's been a good amount. I was worried he had acid reflux and we just left the pedi. They said he does have some form of reflux and they want to monitor it. She didn't seem too concerned because he's gaining weight. He's 11lb 6 oz that's with clothes and a full diaper. Yikes. I'm not quick to want to give medicine yet her resolution is start giving him rice cereal? He will be 8 weeks on Sunday. That's REALLY early in my eyes and I hadn't been 100 sold on the idea of giving it to him period. Do I ask for the medicine and not give the rice cereal? I was more ok with him getting medicine vs rice cereal. Am I crazy?
They also found that he has a heart murmur and we are now scheduling an appointment with a cardiologist. Of course this worries me but she told me not to be too worried it's just for precaution.

Re: WWYD? Rice Cereal
We started DS on Omeprazole at 3w.. and by 3mos we were adding in rice cereal to his bottles (only for a short while b/c it was a PITA -- switched to spoon feeding after a few weeks)...
DS also had a heart murmur.. it was gone by his 4mos appointment.
We started meds at 2 or 3w. They did help. He still had colic too, but there was an improvement overall from the meds. Our pedi never recommended rice cereal. He never mentioned it in conjunction with reflux. We continued the meds until we weaned DS off of them at 10m.
Are you mentioning weight because he's grown quickly? DS was a fast grower - he nearly doubled his birthweight by 2m. Fast growing is not uncommon in BF babies.

I did my research and I tried it last night, the first time I gave it to him he spit up. Most of it. I gave it to him again later I didn't warm up my milk and gave it to him cold. No issues. I read that cold milk helps too. I've been giving him cold and we haven't had issues. I know I've only done it a few times but I've seen a drastic decrease. I will let you know how it goes for a longer period.
