I had a really terrible cold last week. My ears were stuffed up and I couldn't hear, my throat hurt, my sinuses were pounding, it was unbearable.
I still had the list of approved drugs from my ob from when I was pregnant with Jack and Sudifed was one of the approved drugs. I told my overbearing mother I took it to help relieve the sinus pressure and ear pain. She told me I was crazy to take any medications. I honestly take medicine like 1 time every two years. We're
not medicine people. Anyway, she googled it. Then, wrote me an email about how my baby's bowel is going to fall out through a hole in its gut because I took Sudifed once.
I hope it's not true. Tia.

Re: I failed to do my own research
And to think I had you pegged as a responsible mom. I can't believe you didn't check with Dr. Google first??!! Unfortunately your mom is right but fortunately there is a remedy!!
In order to counteract the side effects of the medicine, someone who is blood related to LO the new edition (in any way) needs to take the same dose of Sudafed and shove it up their a$s. Since your mom seems so helpful and concerned I'd suggest you start with her. GL!!
this just made me laugh so hard!! I needed that!
LOL!! Best. Reply. Ever.
I'm going to do it. Then I'll be all, "I read it on the interwebs, we had to."
Bahhahahaha
This is hilarious!
Rachey, I hope you feel better soon. I just got over a cold that dragged on for over a week. It sucked! I'm like you, I rarely take medicine. But this one was just soooo bad. My doctor said sudafed and tylenol sinus are fine.
I hope you feel better soon!!! I am pretty much cold free at this point.
I found conflicting information - Sudafed is on my approved meds list, but then on another list (on Baby Center, I think - and it must be absolutely reliable because someone from my June 2013 BMB said that's the list she goes by) said not to take pseudophedrine (or however you spell the actual drug).
I took it once, and I don't have any family members here to help me do cupcake's remedy - looks like my baby's bowels will be falling out, too.
Oh shiit. Well, at least our babies will have one another. They can be bowel buddies. All because their mothers took a drug supposedly approved for pregnancy.
Cups for the mother of all wins!!!!
Rachey, if it can be any comfort, I also had to resort to "controversial" remedies when I had a really bad cold 10 days ago. Oh well. Add that to the list of things I'm doing wrong
