Anyone else think this is weird?

One of the parents of a kiddo at M's daycare is taking their daughter to Pittsburgh this weekend to see Yo Gabba Gabba Live. That's about 3-4 hours from here. And the little girl is only 8 months old.

Weird?

Would you drive that far or even go to something like that with your 8 m/o?

  • I do think its weird. It seems like a lot of effort, but then some people are into giving their kids everything and going to all lengths. To each their own. All I know is that I didn't even take J to see Sesame Street when their show came through town, but I thought he would be totally freaked out by it!
I used to be a big deal.  Now I'm just old.
  • I wouldn't but that's just me. There's no way Evan would have say still for that long at that age and I feel like it would have been a frustrating experience.
  • I wouldn't because its Yo Gabba Gabba but that's beside the point.

With A we were much more reserved in what we took him to making sure it was age appropriate, worth the money and all that. That being said... J has done way more in 4 months than A did at the same age. Disneyland, zoo, road trip to another state and multiple kiddie parties but that's because we don't want to restrict what we do with A because J is young so we just tote him along too. J is pretty easy baby and we still keep eyes on time though because bed and nap are still important so we try to make sure A and J are getting enough sleep and their sleep routines not disturbed too much.

  • Yeah, it's odd.  An 8 mo old shouldn't even be "watching" TV.  However, maybe the parents just secretly love Yo Gabba Gabba? :)  Obviously, someone in their house is watching it!

  • No older sibling or other group of people going? Yup that's weird...

  • I vote weird.

Most 8mth olds, mine included, are not going to sit through something like that. To me it would be a big waste of time, energy and money.

I know, right? Really strange... They just claim that she really loves Yo Gabba Gabba. I don't remember M loving any show at that age. He really liked Eebee Baby around a year old, but even then I highly doubt taking him 4 hours away and spending money on a live concert would even cross my mind!!

  • Weird, because to an 8 month old it's probably the same as watching it on a big screen tv.

  • Since C wouldn't even sit through it at two years, I definitely think eight months is crazy!

  • Nope. Wouldn't take him to a "tv character show". Especially that one. I hate to gabba gabba. Too overstimulating.
  • No way. Reese is a nightmare in the car for one thing - that is way too long of a drive for something that they won't even understand or maybe even like! Yuck!

  • That's crazy.  All 8 month olds want to do is squirm/crawl around, save your money and your sanity and wait a year or two.

  • Yes, that's weird for an 8-month-old with no siblings. I considered getting tickets to the San Jose show, but that would have been 45 minutes in the car for a 20-month-old. I decided not to go because at that point Avery was shifting her interest from Yo Gabba Gabba to Caillou. You'll have to ask them about it afterwards and report back :)

  • Yo Gabba Gabba isn't allowed in my house to begin with because they creep me out LOL   I wouldn't dare take an 8 mos old to a show let alone that far away.  J got to go to the circus a month ago and I was surprised how well he did with that at 2.
