i went to motherhood maternity today and the sales rep was showing me this cream and oil called Sanctuary mum to be body butter and sanctuary mum to be stretch mark oil. was wondering if anyone has used it? its only sold here and their sister stores, i see.
Re: has anyone used this stretch mark cream?
stretch marks are an inner thing, you can only help reduce the appearance, you can not use a cream on the outside of your body to prevent them.

I was under the impression they form if the skin isn't moist and elasticity. I thought moisturizing to prevent my skin from drying would lessen the likelihood of stretch marks. Now I don't know anymore

Unfortunately, no. Dry skin doesn't cause stretch marks. It's ALL about the elasticity, which you can't impact with lotion. Lotions are great for itching but aren't going to save you if you're going to get them.
This. You could lotion up if you belly is getting dry but it's not going to stop you from getting stretch marks.
$60 for stretch mark cream? That seems like a heck of a lot for a cream that won't prevent stretch marks. OP-I say save your money and use a regular lotion when your skin feels dry/itchy. As PPs said, you can't prevent them with a cream.
My doctor commented on my lack of stretch marks during my first pregnancy. I told her I was putting body butter on my belly. She said the only thing that has been shown to actually work is vitamin E and good genes.
I don't know about the "good genes" part, but when I got home I checked the label on my body butter. Sure enough, it had vitamin E in it! I had started using it daily in the shower the minute my tummy bulged, and I didn't get one stretch mark.
My body butter is from 100% Pure. They make tons of different scents; just find the one you like. They're a "natural" company. I will admit the stuff is greasy--just like butter. So I put it on as my final step in the shower and rinse off the excess. My tummy still has a good layer on it after I dry off.
Don't spend good money on those marketed pregnancy creams. I would just look for something with vitamin E, and be religious about using it. Also, when your belly starts itching, it's a sign that it's dry. So slather on some cream when that happens. Good luck!
i know the whole thing about getting stretch marks is all about your genes, yada yada. i just wanted to know if anyone has used this product. i want a good cream thats going to feel good when i start itching. some creams are too greasy, smelly or dry up too fast and still leave your skin dry, so using any bargain cream isnt going to cut it, especially if my boobs, butt and thighs are going to itch too. lol
