XP: Baby gates?

We are starting to look for baby gates for our stairs: Here is a picture of them:

The stairs are metal skinny poles with a wood top (that is covered with Christmas decorations in this photo). I am looking for a gate for both the top and bottom of the stairs that will last a long time and not "fall down" easily. Any recommendations are appreciated.

I actually have two different kinds of gate. I have this safety first gate the top of my steps (I actually two of them at both set of stairs). These are actually drilled into the wall. And I have this gate that goes into my kitchen (it is mainly to keep the dogs in the kitchen while we are out, but it works for the baby too!).

Agree with steel. I thought you took this picture out of a magazine for an idea of what your stairs kind of look like. You go girl for keeping up with domestic duties. DH and I have been failing miserably at keeping a clean home.

We are looking at getting the kidco I think gates off of amazon for our awkward fireplace hearth and possibly for the stairs. It's supposed to be good for awkward areas. Only problem is you have to fasten into wall.
