Can she hear me...

I wasn't too concerned about this by my mom keeps dwelling in it so I am asking for thoughts. :) B passed her hearing test after birth with flying colors, but she very rarely looks when people talk to her, she tends to look around at other things, I blame it on her father genetics, terrible listening skills ;) but my mom swears she can't her. She does flinch if I snap my fingers or clap my hands. Also wakes if someone talks while she is starting to doze off.

I guess my question is do your guys little ones seem to have selective hearing or are they pretty responsive?

She will be thre months in a few days. :) thanks guys,

Re: Can she hear me...

  • He absolutely has times where he is more attentive to noises and voices. Sometimes he is super sensitive to it, especially if he is trying to fall asleep.

  • My baby will sometimes ignore us when we are talking to her. I think she just finds other things that are holding her attention. I know she can hear.

  • Ahh, sorry for all of the typos, it won't let me edit :(
  • That makes me feel a lot better.  I have just been telling my mom she doesn't like her haha!

P.s my husband tried to make our little girls middle name Easton. I think it's way cuter as a little boys name :)

  • At this point she should be startling at some noises, making some vowel sounds and cooing, and turning towards you when someone else is holding her and she hears your voice. Give it another month and if she is not doing these things take her to a pediactric audiologist. You'd be surprised how many doctors do not understand the importance of early hearing on language development. They will often tell you to wait it out.
