Sample Profiles?

Hi all! Happy Friday! We are starting to get together a preliminary profile book (basically trying to get everything together and get ideas) and would love to see samples of profiles that have actually been successful.

We have friends that have done theirs, but have either been waiting 1yrs+ or the profile is 9 yrs old and seems dated. I've found a few online that were ok, but would love to get more examples. Any of you Moms have any unique profiles we could take a look at? You can send me a private message if you don't feel comfortable posting here. We aren't looking to copy or plagiarize, just inspire :) I'm a little stuck.

Re: Sample Profiles?

  • Are you working with an agency? Do they not show you profile samples? I ask because 1) I can't keep everyone's paths straight ;) and 2) our agency showed us a ton of successful profiles (even though some of them weren't that compelling) before we did ours.

I just saw mine the other day and can probably scan it if you want. It's only 2 pages, but it worked! ;) I can also get you the list of guidelines the agency gave us for profiles.

    PM me if interested.

We are not working with an agency at the moment. We are going to try to  do independent adoption through a lawyer for now.In a year we may move to an agency. I would love to see the guidelines they gave you! We have 4 books that have the basic, but they seem so bland and serious it's hard to imagine anyone responding to the.

Our profile is our website basically on paper.  Feel free to click.  We found a BM within months, but you know how that ended, so not sure you would call that successful.  We have tweaked it a bit since then.

  • I'll message you ours. It's definitely unique, but very "us" if that makes sense.

  • After spending countless hours on our profile, I am convinced that the best profile is the one that is honest and genuine. It could take something as simple as the BM liking your hair color or maybe that you like sports, etc. Just be real. It just takes one BM to like one thing to spark the interest.  The rate of success is not so concrete which is what makes this process so difficult. My advice would be to keep it simple and easy to read.  I wish you the best of luck on the journey. It can be long journey but hang in there. We are matched but still waiting as nothing is final until it is...
