Biting during breastfeeding!!

My 6mo daughter is starting to bite me while breastfeeding. Has anyone experienced this? I'm not ready to wean and hate the thought of pumping exclusively, any recommendations?

  • Use your finger to pop her grasp every time she does it.  She was quickly learn not to bite.

  • Unlatch LO and then re-offer after a minute or two.

Try to figure out why LO is biting, this is what helped me the most. DS has bitten me when he was done nursing.  He also bit me when his teeth were coming in so I starting having a teething ring close by when we nursed.  When I unlatched him I would say no biting that hurts mommy if you want to bite you can bite this.

  • She seems to bite when she is either excited and being on the boob or close to being full. I did unlatch her every time she did it, I will keep work on that and see if it works!
  • I do what alie78_80 does. It works after a while. Eva learned that if she bites me I take her off the boob.
  • pretty much what the PPs have stated, our LO loves to 'gum' sometimes! i just pop her off, unless its the middle of the night (too tired to care LOL) and she gets the ideal, 'hey i shouldn't do that or else no more milk!' GL!
