So a friend of mine just had her baby drug free. She told me I need to cut my nails for DH's sake. Is this true....because I really don't want to they are pretty and long right now. BUT if they really are going to do damage to him then I will cut them....tia :

Re: Fingernails?
I'm thinking she told you to cut the fingernails so that you dont scratch him when you are pushing and holding his hand,
But I think a better reason to trim your nails up before the baby comes, would be to avoid accidentally scratching the new little one with their delicate skin..
after I got home from the hospital, one of the first things I did was file my nails as to not scratch the baby
This. I don't think I touched my husband at all. I didn't want to touch anyone or be touched at all. I didn't even hold his hand or arm while I was pushing (I held behind my legs). He didn't suffer any damage besides maybe some verbal damage.
During transition, I was biting down on my own fingers.
Anyway, don't worry about it. Even if you do dig your nails into DH, it won't "damage" him!
This! and it felt soooo good. I'm actually planning on buying a rubbery dog bone toy for my next labor. Yeah, I'm weird, but better that than a poor innocent human's arm.
OP you just want to make sure your nails are filed smooth and if you have time, you can put a couple coats of nail polish on so the tips aren't so thin and sharp. Less likely to scratch baby that way.
If he's calling a few scratches a "war wound" after she GAVE BIRTH, that gets a big ol' WTFever from me!
If my DH complained about having my nails dug into his arm while I was birthing his child, I'd probably add an extra claw mark for good measure.
I held onto my DH's hands the entire time, but my fingernails never once cut him.
I did get a manicure two days before delivery though, so maybe that helped him out a bit
Also, much to my dad's surprise, I didn't scream at my DH, call him names or curse him for "doing this to me" either, ha!
