Trouble TTC

Not sure if anyone remembers me...and lupron ?

Hi ladies-

I have been MIA for a few months now because MH and I were on a break. Well, I just had a lap/hysteroscopy 3 days ago and discovered stage 3 endometriosis with NO symptoms. My RE is recommending going on lupron for 2-3 months to rest my ovaries and then going from there.

I think I'm going to hang around until treatments start again if that okay with you all! I'm actually relieved we have finally have a diagnosis.

Can any endo ladies offer advice about lupron? Did you give yourself the injection or was it done by your RE? I don't go for my follow-up appt for another week. TIA!!!

  • Hi and welcome back. Lupron is self-injected since you need it every day, like insulin. It's nbd because the needles are super tiny and it doesn't hurt. (I'm on lupron as part of an IVF cycle).
Six years of infertility and loss, four IUIs, one IVF and one very awesome little boy born via med-free birth 10.24.13.

  • Welcome back!

As for the Lupron... I was on 10u a day for my IVF #1 and I did all the shots myself. The needle was a little insulin needle and I could barely feel it. I don't really know about using it for endo tx so i dont know about the dose that you would be on, but the kit for both is the same, so you should be able to do it at home. My only s/e were a dull headache.

    Good Luck!

  • Thanks for the responses. I believe I will be getting it as a once a month dose but will find out more when I go. I don't mind doing it myself, I actually have some leftover from a cancelled injectables cycle that we never got to use!

  • I did Lupron for 3 months after my lap. It was only 1 IM injection a month. I am a RN so I had my co-workers give it to me because my husband refused. Haha! Since it was only once a month, my RE's office could have given it to me for a $17 injection fee.

Also, I was scared to death about the side effects after reading about Lupron online, but I really didn't have any except massive hot flashes. Those were crazy! I took a lot of bone supplements while on it, but not sure if it helped at all. GL to you.

After you did it for three months, did your RE induce your first period or did you get it on your own? About how long did it take? I'm just trying to think ahead because we really don't want to wait another 6 months to start treatments again if we don't have to.
